Ka Ka Kwe Ke Je Ong Head Start Program
“Building a Solid Foundation for our Future Generations, and Building New Paths for a Healthy Community”
About us
The Ka Ka Kwe Ke Je Ong Head Start Program has the potential to make a great impact for the betterment of our people. The goal of this initiative is to demonstrate that locally controlled and designed early intervention strategies can provide First Nations preschool children with a positive sense of themselves, a desire for learning and opportunities to develop fully and successfully as young people. The program is based on caring, creativity, and pride following from the knowledge of our traditional community beliefs, within a holistic and safe environment.
Mission:
“It is the Mission of the Ebb and Flow First Nation Health Services of Treaty #2, 1871 to work in unity with the First Nation community members, to assist our people to achieve physical, mental, emotional and spiritual well-being through the provision of culturally appropriate health promotion, disease prevention activities and health services.”

Vision:
“Building a Solid Foundation for our Future Generations, and Building New Paths for a Healthy Community”
Program Services:
The Ka Ka Kwe Ke Je Ong Head Start Program supports child development and school readiness for children ages 2 – 3 years old living in our First Nation. The children in the program take part in daily activities that encourage a love of learning and thus establishing positive health and wellness habits.
The Program is open Monday through Thursday with Friday being Administration days and is closed for statutory holidays, inclement weather days, and during water shortages.
Parental and Family involvement is a very important component of the Ka Ka Kwe Ke Je Ong Head Start Program and are asked to take part in the Head Start daily programming, parent training sessions/workshops, bus monitoring and contributing to the betterment of our community. Our program focuses on the six components: education, health promotion, culture & language, nutrition, social support, and family involvement. We provide activities that encourage a love of learning, establish positive health and boost children’s self-confidence through the connections of their language, community, and culture. These enable the children to be resilient, thrive and to be healthy.
